Description
Thai Chili Peppers are small, slender, and extremely spicy—famous for their punchy heat and vibrant red color. They are commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine, especially in curries, stir-fries, and sauces. Compact yet prolific, Thai chili plants can produce dozens of fruits on a single plant and thrive in warm climates like the UAE.
When to Plant in the UAE
Indoors: Start seeds indoors in mid-July in a warm location or using a heat mat (soil temperature around 24–30 °C).
Outdoors: Transplant seedlings outdoors in early to mid-October, once nighttime temperatures are consistently above 15 °C.
Tips for Planting
Use well-draining soil enriched with compost.
Sow seeds 0.5–1 cm deep and keep soil moist during germination (which may take 10–21 days).
Provide full sun (at least 6 hours daily) for optimal growth.
Space plants 30–45 cm apart.
Fertilize monthly with a balanced fertilizer.
Harvest chilies when they turn bright red or green, depending on preference.
Thai chili plants can be grown as short-lived perennials if protected from extreme cold.
