Description

Autumn Beauty Sunflower is a stunning branching heirloom sunflower mix that produces large, vibrant blooms in warm shades of golden yellow, orange, bronze, red, and burgundy. The plants develop multiple branching stems, creating an abundant display of flowers over a long blooming period. The blooms are excellent for cut flower arrangements and add beautiful color and height to garden borders, cottage gardens, vegetable gardens, and pollinator-friendly spaces. The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

When to Plant in the UAE

  • Outdoors: Direct sow seeds in early September and early March.
  • Avoid: Peak summer planting, as extreme heat can stress young plants and reduce flowering quality.

Planting & Care Tips

  • Light & Soil: Grow in full sun in fertile, well-draining soil enriched with compost and organic matter.
  • Depth & Germination: Sow seeds 1–2 cm deep. Germination typically occurs within 7–10 days under warm conditions.
  • Spacing: Space plants 30–45 cm apart, with 45–60 cm between rows.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during germination, establishment, and flowering. Once established, water deeply and regularly, especially during hot or dry periods.
  • Feeding: Add compost before planting. Apply a balanced organic fertilizer during active growth if needed, but avoid excessive nitrogen, which can encourage excessive foliage and weaker stems.
  • Support: Tall, branching plants may require staking, particularly in exposed or windy locations.
  • Flowering: Plants typically begin flowering approximately 70–90 days after sowing, depending on growing conditions.
  • Harvesting Tips: For cut flowers, harvest when the petals are beginning to open and before the flower is fully open. Remove spent blooms to encourage continued flowering.
  • Pollinators: The colorful blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, making this variety an excellent choice for pollinator-friendly gardens.
