Description

Cinderella Pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) is a beautiful French heirloom pumpkin famous for its flattened, deeply ribbed shape and vibrant orange-red color. Its appearance is reminiscent of the pumpkin from the classic Cinderella story, making it both an attractive garden crop and a versatile kitchen pumpkin.

The thick, sweet flesh has a rich flavor and is excellent for roasting, soups, purées, pies and other cooked dishes. The vigorous vines produce large fruits and require plenty of growing space.

Planting & Care Tips

• Sow seeds directly about 2–3 cm deep in fertile, well-drained soil.
• Germination usually takes around 5–10 days in warm conditions.
• Space plants approximately 90–120 cm apart, allowing additional room for spreading vines.
• Grow in full sun.
• Enrich the soil with plenty of compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting.
• Keep soil consistently moist, especially during flowering and fruit development.
• Feed regularly with a balanced vegetable fertilizer, increasing potassium during fruiting.
• Allow vines to spread naturally or guide them along the edge of beds.
• Place developing pumpkins on a dry surface or mulch to reduce direct contact with wet soil.
• Harvest when the fruits have developed their deep orange-red color and the stems begin to dry.
