Description

Bianco di Trieste Zucchini is a beautiful heirloom variety from Italy, prized for its pale ivory-green fruits, smooth skin, tender flesh, and delicate, slightly sweet flavor. The compact plants produce abundant cylindrical zucchini that are best harvested young for maximum tenderness and flavor. Excellent for grilling, sautéing, roasting, stuffing, frying, soups, and fresh cooking, this productive variety is well suited to the UAE’s warm growing conditions.

When to Plant in the UAE

  • Outdoors: Direct sow seeds in early September and again in late February for the best results.

Planting & Care Tips

  • Light & Soil: Plant in full sun in fertile, well-draining soil enriched with compost and organic matter.
  • Depth & Germination: Sow seeds 2–3 cm deep. Germination typically occurs within 5–10 days in warm soil.
  • Spacing: Space plants 60–90 cm apart, with 90–120 cm between rows.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during flowering and fruit development, while avoiding waterlogged conditions.
  • Feeding: Apply compost before planting and feed with a balanced vegetable fertilizer every 3–4 weeks during active growth.
  • Harvest: Young zucchini can be harvested approximately 45–60 days after sowing, ideally when fruits are 15–20 cm long.
  • Harvesting Tips: Harvest every 1–2 days once production begins to encourage continued fruiting. Cut fruits with a clean knife or pruners, leaving a short stem attached.
