الوصف
Description
Mizuna Mustard (Brassica rapa var. japonica) is a Japanese leafy green known for its finely cut, feathery leaves and mild, peppery flavor. The tender leaves are excellent for fresh salads, sandwiches, stir-fries, soups, and garnishes.
Mizuna is a fast-growing, productive cool-season crop that can be harvested as baby greens or allowed to mature for larger leaves. Its attractive foliage makes it a useful addition to both vegetable gardens and containers.
When to Plant in the UAE
Direct sow outdoors: September – December
Planting & Care Tips
- Sow seeds directly about 0.5–1 cm deep in fertile, well-drained soil.
- Germination usually takes around 5–10 days.
- Thin seedlings to approximately 15–20 cm apart for mature plants.
- Grow in full sun to partial shade.
- Keep soil consistently moist for tender, mild-flavored leaves.
- Harvest baby leaves as needed, or allow plants to mature for larger leaves.
- Harvest outer leaves first to encourage continued growth.
- Avoid prolonged heat, which can cause the plant to bolt and develop a stronger flavor.
