Tips for Planting & Care
Light & Soil: Select a spot with full sun and rich, well-draining soil amended with compost.
Planting Depth & Space: Sow seeds about 0.6 cm deep. Space seedlings 45–60 cm apart in rows 60–90 cm apart.
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during flowering, but avoid waterlogging. Big Jim peppers tolerate dry periods moderately well.
Fertilization: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer at transplanting; reduce nitrogen levels as fruit develops to favor pod growth.
Support: Heavy pods may droop plant branches—provide staking or cages to support the plants.
Harvest: Ready to pick approximately 75 days after sowing. Harvest when pods reach full size (25–30 cm). They can be picked green or allowed to redden for sweeter flavor
