Description
Painted Daisy Giant Mix is a colorful flowering mix that produces large, daisy-like blooms in vibrant shades of pink, red, white, and purple, often with contrasting yellow centers. The tall, upright plants create an eye-catching display and are excellent for flower beds, borders, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and cut-flower arrangements. The long-lasting flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, while the strong stems make them particularly useful as cut flowers.
When to Plant in the UAE
- Outdoors: Direct sow seeds in late October.
- Best results: Plant during the cooler growing season in full sun or partial shade.
- Avoid: Peak summer heat, as extreme temperatures can reduce germination and stress young seedlings.
Planting & Care Tips
- Light & Soil: Grow in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-draining soil enriched with compost and organic matter.
- Depth & Germination: Sow seeds approximately 0.2–0.5 cm deep and cover lightly with soil. Germination typically occurs within 10–20 days.
- Spacing: Space plants approximately 30–45 cm apart, with 45–60 cm between rows.
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during germination and early growth. Once established, water regularly while avoiding waterlogged conditions.
- Feeding: Add compost before planting. Apply a balanced organic fertilizer during active growth if needed. Avoid excessive nitrogen.
- Flowering: Plants grown from seed may take approximately 90–120 days to flower, depending on growing conditions.
- Support: Taller plants may benefit from staking, especially in windy or exposed areas.
- Deadheading: Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage additional blooms and extend the flowering period.
- Pollinators: The colorful flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.
- Harvesting Tips: For cut flowers, harvest stems when the flowers are beginning to open. Place freshly cut stems immediately in clean water.
