When to Plant in the UAE

• Start Indoors: Sow seeds early to mid-August in trays or pots indoors.

• Outdoors (Transplant): Move seedlings outdoors in early October, once night temperatures are consistently above 15 °C.

• Outdoors (Direct Sowing): Seeds may also be directly sown outdoors in early October if the soil is warm and well-prepared.

Tips for Planting

• Choose a sunny spot (6–8 hours of sunlight daily) with well-draining, fertile soil.

• Plant deeply (up to first set of true leaves) and provide a stake or cage for vine support.

• Spacing: Space plants 45–60 cm apart, with 90 cm between rows.

• Keep soil evenly moist, and mulch to retain moisture and prevent weeds.

• Use a balanced fertilizer, switching to a phosphorus-rich mix once flowering begins.

• Harvest in 65–80 days after transplant, when the fruit turns golden with blush tones and feels slightly soft.
