Description

Slow Bolt Cilantro is a productive herb variety selected for its tendency to remain leafy longer before flowering. It produces abundant, bright green, aromatic leaves with the classic fresh citrusy flavor of cilantro, making it excellent for salads, salsas, curries, soups, sauces, chutneys, and fresh garnishes. Its slower bolting habit makes it particularly useful for harvesting leaves over an extended period during the UAE’s cooler growing season.

When to Plant in the UAE

  • Outdoors: Direct sow seeds in October.

Planting & Care Tips

  • Light & Soil: Grow in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-draining soil enriched with compost.
  • Depth & Germination: Sow seeds 0.5–1 cm deep. Germination typically occurs within 7–14 days.
  • Spacing: Thin plants to 10–15 cm apart, with 20–30 cm between rows.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during germination and leaf production. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
  • Feeding: Add compost before planting and use a light balanced fertilizer every 3–4 weeks during active growth.
  • Harvest: Begin harvesting approximately 30–45 days after sowing, once plants have developed a good amount of leafy growth.
  • Harvesting Tips: Harvest the outer leaves first or cut stems a few centimeters above the soil. Regular harvesting encourages fresh growth.
  • Bolting: Although this variety is slow to bolt, prolonged heat and dry conditions can still trigger flowering. Harvest leaves regularly and provide some afternoon shade as temperatures increase.
