Description

Gazania Sunshine Mixed Colors is a vibrant blend of gazanias producing large, daisy-like flowers in a beautiful range of bright colors, including yellow, orange, red, pink, bronze, and bi-colored patterns. The flowers open in bright sunlight and create a spectacular display across flower beds, borders, containers, rock gardens, and sunny landscapes. Gazania is well adapted to warm, dry conditions and is relatively drought tolerant once established, making it an excellent choice for UAE gardens. The colorful blooms also attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators.

When to Plant in the UAE

  • Outdoors: Direct sow seeds throughout October.
  • Best results: Plant in full sun during the cooler growing season.
  • Avoid: Peak summer heat, as extreme temperatures can make germination difficult and stress young seedlings.

Planting & Care Tips

  • Light & Soil: Grow in full sun in fertile, sandy or loamy, well-draining soil. Good drainage is especially important.
  • Depth & Germination: Sow seeds approximately 0.3–0.5 cm deep and cover lightly with soil. Germination typically occurs within 7–14 days under suitable conditions.
  • Spacing: Space plants approximately 20–30 cm apart, with 30–40 cm between rows.
  • Watering: Keep the soil lightly moist during germination and early growth. Once established, Gazania is relatively drought tolerant and should be watered deeply but moderately.
  • Feeding: Add compost before planting. Apply a balanced organic fertilizer during active growth if needed, but avoid excessive nitrogen.
  • Flowering: Plants generally begin flowering approximately 70–90 days after sowing, depending on growing conditions.
  • Deadheading: Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage additional blooms and maintain a tidy appearance.
  • Pollinators: The colorful flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.
  • Maintenance: Avoid consistently wet soil and provide good airflow around the plants. Gazania performs best in sunny, open locations.
